We needed a new picture for the blog, and the girls provided it. They were zooming along together on Elena's bike (note how she's sitting on the back fender with her knees bent!) and they crashed! It was so much fun that they did it again for pictures!

Check out the new brace on Elena's arm. The blue cast came off yesterday and the brace needs to be worn for a week. Hooray for bodies that heal!

"Hair today/Gone tomorrow"

Technically, this kind of hair usually doesn't last past family prayers...It's the kind of hair (or hat) created when a shirt doesn't make it all the way off over one's head.

Our latest trip included a quick stop at Mammoth Cave. We've stopped there before--there is a nice walking path to one of the cave openings, but we haven't gone inside yet! Tanner wasn't up to the adventure this time and we didn't see any point in pushing!

Later on in our journeys, Martin & I did go in a cave--Cathedral Cave near Guntersville, AL. It was fun to to into a cave (and have a nice cement path, electric lights, and an amazingly entertaining guide)!

Here I am with the kids at one of the openings of Mammoth Cave.

(A side note: At Mammoth Cave no backpacks, cameras, diaper bags, etc. were allowed in the caves. At Cathedral Cave, they were no problem!)

Look, Mom! See what I got from the emergency room?

Argh! Elena fell off a chair in the kitchen this morning. She seemed ok, but not completely. After an hour or two, it was obvious that she was favoring her arm and that it was swollen. Grr. Probably a compression fracture.

After a call to Martin to see if the van was done (of all days for an accident to happen--the day we take the van to the shop for routine maintenance!) --a second call came in while were were talking: the van was ready! Hooray for God's tender mercies! A call to the doctor led to a trip to the ER.

And, yup, we were right: compression fracture. I'm glad she's so happy about her temporary cast. It's nice to have her not hurting right now. She'll get her real cast on Friday...and we'll leave for vacation on Monday! Whew.
